Forbidden Music in the USSR

Launched in 2014, this project includes 8 interviews. It explores everyday mechanisms of state control over cultural life in the USSR, and the boundaries between individual freedom and political regulation. Respondents were not professional musicians, but fans and amateur participants in Soviet-era musical subcultures.
